Greenbelt Homes is a cooperative that provides quality homes for
its members and fosters opportunities for community. We will accomplish this by
celebrating and respecting the historical legacy of the original Greenbelt plan.
We will maintain, protect, and enhance the assets of the cooperative including
the buildings, architectural design, open space plan (woods, walkways,
playgrounds), while preserving the affordability and financial stability of the
cooperative. We will promote member diversity, member and community involvement,
and education regarding our rights and responsibilities as homeowners and coop
members. We are the keepers of our property, and we have the right to expect
that all of us will act responsibly to protect and care for that which each own
and treasure together.
A housing cooperative is formed when people join with each other on a democratic basis to own or control the buildings in which they live. Usually, in addition to paying for shares in the cooperative, members pay monthly fees that cover the operating expenses of the cooperative corporation.
If members wish to sell their shares in the cooperative, members
may do so for whatever the market will bear. There are many
advantages to living in a cooperative. Members receive tax deductions and
equity just as in other real estate ownership. Cooperatives are usually more affordable than other
forms of housing as maintenance costs are shared. For more information about cooperatives:

In addition to promoting responsible pet ownership and helping to socialize dogs, it offers safe exercise opportunities for dogs and their owners.
Buddy Attick Lake is a favorite place for Greenbelt residents to take a long walk or jog. It also is a favorite fishing spot. In addition to the trail around the lake, picnic areas are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are several, larger picnic areas that require a city permit. The lake is also well-known for a day-long fourth of July celebration that concludes with fireworks over the lake. Woodlands and established trails surround and wind throughout Greenbelt Homes.
Member volunteers maintain the trails, ensuring that the trail markings are readable. Many of the homes in Greenbelt Homes back up to these woodlands. Located throughout Greenbelt, common areas, playgrounds, inner-walkways, and underpasses are part of the original town plan. Common areas are enjoyed by children and adults playing, having picnics with neighbors, or playing with and training their dogs. Many of the common areas include playgrounds. Some of the playgrounds are designed for toddlers while others appeal to all age groups.
The use of inner-walkways and underpasses minimizes pedestrians having to cross streets. They also provide a delightful way to walk through the community and to the historic town center. The inner-walkways and underpasses are very popular with parents walking their children from playground to playground and with people walking dogs.
